Golf Stocking Fillers and Secret Santa Gifts for Golfers
Small golf gifts are harder than big ones.
With £50 or £100 you have options. With £10 you are one bad decision away from buying somebody a novelty ball marker shaped like a pint glass, which they will thank you for and then never see again.
So here is what actually works at the small end.
Golf stocking fillers that get used
A sleeve of premium balls (£5–£10). The best small golf gift there is. A sleeve of three graded Pro V1s costs a fraction of new and plays the same. Golfers lose balls constantly and almost never buy themselves the good ones.
Tees (£5). Deeply unglamorous. Universally needed. Golfers snap tees every round and restock roughly never. If they use a driver, 70mm is the length you want; 54mm covers irons and shorter tee shots.
Ball markers (£5–£10). Most golfers use a coin off the floor. A proper marker is a small upgrade they would never buy themselves.
A golf towel (£10–£20). Actively used every round, and the one they have is filthy.
A cap (£15–£20). Same logic. Golf caps live outdoors and age badly.
What to avoid in a stocking
Anything with a golf joke on it. Golf-branded confectionery. Novelty putters for the office. Books about golf that the person did not ask for.
The rule is simple: if it cannot go in the bag or be worn on the course, it will end up in a drawer.
Secret Santa gifts for golfers
Secret Santa usually comes with a hard limit, so it depends where the line is.
£10 limit
A sleeve of premium graded balls or a pack of tees. Both are recognisably useful and neither looks cheap.
£15–£20 limit
A glove, if you know the size and hand. A golf towel. Or a bigger pack of balls — a dozen graded premium balls sits comfortably in this bracket.
£25–£30 limit

The glove warning
If your small gift is a glove, you need two pieces of information: the size (S, S/M, M, M/L, L) and which hand.
Golfers wear the glove on their lead hand, which is the opposite hand to the one they play with. Right-handed golfer, left-hand glove. It catches almost everyone the first time.
Building a golf stocking from scratch
If you want to fill a stocking rather than buy one item, a solid combination is:
- A sleeve of premium balls
- A pack of tees
- A ball marker
- Something they will wear — a cap or a towel
